Andre Rison, one of the NFL's toughest and most
sure handed receivers was drafted in the first round by
the Indianapolis Colts in the 1989 NFL Draft. Andre went on to
become a 5 time pro bowler, and Superbowl
Champion. Andre Rison played for the Indianapolis Colts
for one season before being signed by The Atlanta Falcons, the team that
Rison was most notoriously a part of. Putting up 15 scores in a
single season, Rison was the voted the best wide receiver in 1993 and
made his way to the Pro Bowl, which he would return to a total of 5
times as one of the NFL's best receivers of all time.
In 1996, Andre Rison made NFL history by winning the
Superbowl XXXI while a member of The Green Bay Packers. Rison made
the biggest play of the game with a
54 yard catch and run for a touchdown thrown by Brett Favre.
Rison then went to a struggling
Kansas City Chiefs team, where he was clearly the dominant receiver,
but a weak Kansas City quarterback tandem could not get him the ball.
Rison got his revenge on the Chiefs when he was
traded to the
Oakland Raiders along with
Rich Gannon. The first game that the Raiders came into
Arrowhead Stadium
Gannon hooked up with Rison TWICE for touchdown scores
and pummelled the Chiefs mercilessly. The Gannon and Rison trade
by the Chiefs was considered a major mistake by Chiefs fans and it cost
them when they met up with them later in the season as the Raiders ran
over them effortlessly.
