Cotton Davidson was signed by The Buffalo Colts in
1954 in the first round of the NFL draft. Cotton was a
quarterback, but he was also a place kicker and a punter. Cotton
Davidson was the first starting quarterback for the
Dallas Texans, who would eventually go on to become the
Kansas
City Chiefs. The chronology of Davidson's career is difficult
to trace, but he was a Dallas Texan for two seasons in 1961 and 1962.
He was named the All Star Game MVP in 1961. In 1963 Cotton
Davidson was traded to the Oakland Raiders for a first round draft pick,
which the Texans used to pick up Buck Buchanan.
