^{The Dallas Texans were formed in 1961 by Lamar Hunt when he ran into difficulty getting a team entered into the existing NFL league.  The Dallas Texans were in existance in 1961 and 1962 before moving to Kansas City and becoming The Kansas City Chiefs.  The team included stand outs Abner Hayes, Cotton Davidson and Jack Spikes.  Cotton Davidson was the first starting quarterback for the Dallas Texans, who had two mediocre seasons and one final season in 1962 where they were victorious over the Houston Oilers 20-17 in the league's first double overtime game.  In 1963 Lamar Hunt moved the Dallas Texans to Kansas City because the Texas fans did not believe that the Texans were on the same level as the Dallas Cowboys.  Kansas City proved to be a better market for the team, and Hunt renamed them The Kansas City Chiefs.}
